Armed police storm Rio favela

Some 2,600 police and army operatives swept through a Brazilian slum on Sunday, seizing 11 tons of marijuana and "a small arsenal" of weapons—including a missile—from a notorious drug gang. They also found a Justin Bieber mural.

Pezao, whom The Guardian describes as "one of the area's top traffickers," is apparently also one of the area's top Justin Bieber fans. Brazilian news outlet R7 published the photo, as well as several others documenting the narcos' "mansions." They'll need to update for Bieber's new haircut, obviously.

This Brazilian Drug Lord Is a Huge Justin Bieber Fan

The "unprecedented" operation, which focused on the notorious 70,000-resident Complexo do Alemao, took place at 8 a.m. By 9:30 a.m. it had been "conquered," (that's what the police said, at least), and in the afternoon the government troops "hoisted the country's green and yellow flag." The hope was to weaken the Red Command drug gang and capture some of its notorious members—like Zeu, the drug lord behind the samurai-sword murder of Brazilian journalist Tim Lopes. It's unlikely to be the last raid, though:

"The head of Rio's drug squad, Marcus Vinicius Braga, described the operation as "worryingly calm" and suggested further confrontations were likely. "We are winning, but we haven't won yet," he said.

GAWKER
And who said Justin Bieber is only made for teenage girls? The real question is what song these drug dealers like to sing along with the most.

Answer: "Kiss and Tell". ahahaha

Surprise police said a boy pulled a knife on his mother who refused to let him go trick-or-treating as a "gay Justin Bieber," the singer and teen idol.

The 12-year-old boy had been grounded Halloween night after an argument with his mother, who said his costume idea was disrespectful, police spokesman Sgt. Mark Ortega said.

After throwing a tantrum and getting grounded from trick-or-treating, he grabbed a knife from his room and threatened to kill her, Ortega said.

The mother disarmed her son without injury and called police.

Police arrested the pre-teen on suspicion of threatening his mother with a knife.

Kevin Kristopik, the (now former) fan targeted in a tweet by Justin Bieber after he got the pop star's cellphone number and allegedly sent unwanted texts, was flooded by more than 26,000 text messages and calls before he shut down his phone account, he told the Detroit Free Press on Monday.

Kevin's dad, Mike Kristopik, told the paper that the Biebs was trying to get his son -- who won't exactly say how he got the singer's number -- to stop texting him, and that it worked. Still, said the elder Kristopik, "if it costs us $2,000 or $10,000, it's out of line."

By the time he talked to the Detroit News, that estimate had grown: "If I have a $20,000 bill, I'm going to be pretty upset," he said.

"I thought it was some kind of prank number," one JB fan who called the number told Gawker. "I didn't think Justin Bieber would be stupid enough to post his own number."

A local radio host told the Detroit News that Kevin had e-mailed the show last week ago to brag about hacking into the Facebook account of one of Bieber's friends. WKQI-FM host Spike said Kevin wanted tickets to Bieber's concert and closed his e-mail by saying, "Give me tickets or I'll hack you."

Whether Bieber or his friend will press charges against Kevin Kristopik is still up in the air, the News said, with no comment from Bieber's camp.

That aside, and perhaps unfortunately for Kevin, texts don't come free of charge, even when Justin Bieber is involved. Especially those texts that might originate from international numbers, which are the ones Mike Kristopik told the Free Press he's most concerned about.

One Ministry service provider charges a quarter per international text and a dime for "all messages whether sent or received, read or unread, solicited or unsolicited," with messages longer than 160 characters being broken up into chunks, each of which counts separately.

Justin Bieber fans will have a unique opportunity to chat with their favorite teen pop star at a meet and greet event in California. But hopeful attendees of this pre-show engagement will have to pay a high price if they want to get up close and personal with their teen idol.

Justin will be hosting a meet and greet session with fans prior to his upcoming concert at the California Mid-state Fair Grounds in Paso Robles, CA on Wednesday night. According to Justin's tour website, tickets for this special event are going for $4,025 a piece.

If you don't have an extra $4,000 on hand, you can still enjoy the show for around $125. There are a handful of seats available.

Do you think it would be worth it to pay $4,000 to meet and greet with Justin Bieber or is this price outlandish? How much would you pay to meet Justin?

EXAMINER

Worth it? Ummm $4000? This ain't a 'meet and greet'. It's more like a 'meet and not eat for a month'.

Bieber's Trash Is A Belieber's Treasure

(CANVAS STAFF REPORTS) - One sip on a plastic sparkling water bottle by a pop star and a charity is $624 richer.

Emma Hall-Phillips, a 16-year-old New Zealander, met Canadian pop star Justin Bieber last week while he was in a make-up room at New Zealand 's TV3 studio, reported the station. "And five seconds later he comes in to get his makeup and I was like 'Oh, he's sitting (less than an inch) away from me," she said.

Bieber took a sip from the bottle but quickly put it down, saying, "Ew, what's this?" according to TV3 .

After Bieber left the room, Hall-Phillips' mom, who works for the TV station, grabbed the bottle and they put it on the auction site TradeMe .

"I put it on TradeMe to see how much I could get from the crazy fans," the 16-year-old told TV3.

On Sunday, a buyer – parents of a Bieber fanatic whose identity was not available – bid on the bottle and got it for $624 ($855 NZ dollars) reported TV3 . Emma and her mother only expected to get up to around $22 (U.S. dollars) for the water bottle.

The mother and daughter say they plan to donate the money to the cancer charity CanTeen, according to the New Zealand Herald .

"I'm not (a) crazy Justin Bieber fan," Hall-Phillips says. "I'd rather sell it and give money to a good cause."

Maybe the extreme price for a plastic water bottle isn't so surprising when you consider that 16-year-old Bieber has 2.2 million people following him on Twitter .

Like the many pop stars before him, Bieber is mobbed by teenage girls who crave a piece of something he's come in contact with – a half-eaten Weetbix, an autographed chocolate wrapper, and, of course, the abandoned sparkling water bottle, reports the New Zealand Herald .

It's great that Justin has a lot of fan in New Zealand but you have to draw the line somewhere. You can see from the video how furious Justin was when in the middle of all that mayhem someone pulled his touque right off his head. He tried to get it back but he couldn't do anything with all the guards around him pushing him through. It's just not right! And his mom! Wish there was I video I could show you guys of her being pushed to the floor.

And no I'm not going to post their picture of them smiling waving his touque.

Teen sensation Justin Bieber's only planned public show in Australia has been canceled with the star now playing behind glass for his own safety, The Daily Telegraph reported Monday.

Fans are reported to have reacted wildly to the news Bieber was due to perform at a shopping center in Sydney's west on April 25, forcing a change of plans.

The 16-year-old Canadian will now be protected from his teen admirers with an appearance behind a glass window in Channel 7's Sydney city center studio at Martin Place.

Bieber will perform his hit single "Baby" on the TV station's Sunrise program on Monday, April 26 from 7 a.m. (local time).

The soul singer, on his first trip to Australia, will release his debut album on April 23, consisting of 19 tracks including hit singles "One Time", "Favorite Girl" and "Baby".

Teen idol Bieber has 200,000 followers on Twitter and is the first solo artist to have four songs from a debut album in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100’s Top 40 prior to its release.

Justin Bieber Memorable FAN EncountersJustin Bieber dished to Tiger Beat about some of his most memorable fan moments: 'Sometimes I don't realize that I'm famous, but sometimes it's like, 'Wow I can't believe this is actually happening to me.' Especially when it comes to my fans. They get crazy! Soemtimes moms are crazier. They'll be watching me and the moms will run over and say, 'My daughter really, really loves you.
Can we get a picture?' One time I was performing at a high school. This one mom drove an hour to get a picture for her daughter, who went to a different school. She was waiting outside with her camera and we were rushing out because kids were rushing to meet me. They were all running after us and this mom was saying, 'Can I take a picture with you?' and we were like..

'You know were are a big rush.' She tried to jump in the car and was taking pictures of me! We were trying to get out of there and she was standing in front of the car so we couldn't move and was taking pictures. It was so wild!'Do any of YOU have crazy fan moms?
'Another crazy story. My friends and I were at this club. I went up to dance with a girl, and her boyfriend dumped her because she danced with me! I heard her in the hall talking to her friend about it. Her friend asked, 'You danced with him?' and she was like, 'He's a superstar! What do you expect me to do?' She got dumped by her boyfriend. Isn't that sad? She was cute.'

26 February 2010

Justin Bieber sent out invites to his upcoming 16th birthday party -- and while it's gonna be awesome, there's one giant string attached ... a release form for parents that warns your child is risking death by going.

The invitation boasts that Justin will have all sorts of crazy activities at the L.A.-based party -- like paintball, basketball, sumo wrestling, laser tag, and something involving a "workout gym."

But kids aren't allowed to go unless their parents sign a waiver that states, "I fully understand my/minor's participation may involve risk or serious injury or death."
