I couldn't help but tear up when I saw everyone on their feet.
Wow. This is so exciting!! I'm so happy for him. 1 year ago nobody knew his name and how he's taken the world by storm. About.com's prediction was pretty good....
...but they underestimated the power of J Bieber because he actually took home 4 awards (which Ace Showbiz also missed). Justin also won the biggest prize of the night, Artist of the Year beating out Eminem and Usher. Epic!
2010 AMAs: Justin Bieber Wins Three Coveted Awards
Justin Bieber added three more awards to his collection at the live telecast of the 38th Annual American Music Awards. The Canadian pint-sized idol took home T-Mobile Breakthrough Artist, beating the shortlist of such competitors as Mike Posner, Lady Antebellum and Travis McCoy.
The "Baby" hitmaker who was introduced by fellow young star Willow Smith for his "Pray" performance also pocketed Favorite Pop/Rock Album, thanks to his "My World 2.0". The extended play of his debut album "My World" topped Eminem's "Recovery" and Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream".
Later, Bieber was handed Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist. He once again beat the Slim Shady in addition to his mentor Usher. "Without Michael Jackson, none of us would be here," he said when collecting the prize on stage. The late King of Pop was inspiration behind his new song "Pray".
Although losing two categories to Bieber, the Slim Shady who didn't attend the November 21 prize-giving event managed to grab one prize. The rapper was named Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Male Artist in a tight battle against B.o.B and Drake.
Congrats JB. Pattie must be so proud tonight.

Look at his smile at the end when he starts realizing people were on their feet.
The Beebs says that if he wasn’t titillating tweens around the world with his barely-tolerable musical stylings, he’d be…playing pro hockey?
“Singing is my first passion, but if things didn’t work out, I would be trying to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs,” Bieber said confidently. “I’m sure I could teach them a thing or two with my mad skills!”

I know some of you are split on the whole J Beebs mania, but I’ve got a confession: I’ve been a “Belieber” ever since I did this iChat (yes, an iChat—21st-century stuff for a 21st-century star) interview with him for our September issue.
And yes, the photoshoot at the end of this interview is the current background of our site.
Another 16 hours left in the voting for the AMA's Breakthrough Artist of the Year award. Justin's up against Lady Antebellum, Travie McCoy, and Mike Poser. He should have this category in the bag but never count your chickens until your eggs have hatched. So vote and vote as many times as you want because you have unlimited votes. lol. For real! Voting ends 9PM Eastern / 6PM Pacific.
The show starts at 8pm (7pm Central time) on ABC.
And voting is still open for the People's Choice Awards where JB's nominated for 2 awards:
- Favorite Breakout Artist
- Favorite Music Video
