Bieber, along with Katy Perry and Coldplay, was linked to the show Thursday, joining previously announced acts Rihanna, P!nk and Usher.
News of Bieber's addition to the show follows the release of his first literary (book) release, 'First Step 2 Forever,' and precedes the impending release of a movie.
Bieber is also working on new music, teaming up with R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo.
According to Ne-Yo, Bieber is putting aside 'bubblegum pop' for something a bit more mature on his next project (more on that story here....).
The 2010 American Music Awards air Sunday, November 21 on ABC.
